CHRISTINE ELLINGHAUSEN

B.1952

CESTUDIO,1983-present,my studio life spans over 40 years.

Moving to South Florida in 1980 from New York City, I returned to making art full time.

I made contemporary ceramics combining the practical vessel with the abstracted form as the theme of my art for 17 yeas. I then explored oil monotypes and I now work on creating mixed photo collage on aluminum panel.

In 2015, I redesigned my studio to include large format digital printers to produce my original images allowing me to invent complex photo collage /mixed media on aluminum and other creative substrates. The materials and solutions that I use are newly invented which has allowed me to do exciting basic research, pioneering this non toxic process.

This system of image transfer has liberated me to be able to use collage as a rebus of ephemera. My art work is to be read as visual poems, like puzzles of memories and associations…Each item conversing with the others, all working as one statement.

I love the relics of our western world, even as I imagine our future possibilities. What we see today as nostaglia, a soothing view of the past, will soon enough be seen as just footnotes from long ago... Like a New York minuet in the library of time, gone.

I look to preserve and honor images that would have otherwise be lost in history. I make these stories as a solo human artist, without robotic advice or consent.

The dreams of artists, writers and engineers, are becoming reality while we watch.

My studio is in lovely Lake Worth Beach, Florida, an old beach town on the Atlantic coast, where I continue to have creative fun ,no matter the weather.
